Cost of Weddings

If you would like to get the most out of your wedding budget, consider hiring a wedding consultant. Your wedding consultant will help you plan your dream wedding and keep you within your budget by suggesting ways to stretch your dollar.
A wedding consultant is experienced in negotiating contracts with venues, caterers, photographers, florists, and many other vendors. She can save valuable time and money and can help you to avoid costly mistakes, while turning your dreams into reality.

Why hire a wedding/event planner?

It seems that not long ago, a wedding/event planner and coordinator was thought of as a luxury, only used by the wealthy as a “trendy” thing to do. However, that's no longer the case! Now a coordinator is virtually a necessity for a well planned affair and will fully organize your dream wedding/event and keep you within your budget by suggesting ways to stretch your dollar.

An event/wedding planner is experienced in negotiating contracts with banquet halls, caterers, photographers, florists, and many other vendors. The coordinator saves valuable time and money and can help you to avoid costly mistakes, while turning your dreams into reality.

According to one online source, “The average wedding can take more than two hundred fifty hours just to plan.” With life’s hectic pace, you may not have time to compare all the vendor options – making sure you get the best deal, and cover each and every detail. Wedding/event planners are not here to make decisions for you, but to guide and assist you in making informed decisions.

A wedding/event coordinator can serve in many other capacities. She can be a great listening ear and sounding board, or even mediate disagreements when you are caught between family disputes over minor details.

Most events are once-in-a-lifetime — you don't have second chance to correct mistakes. A planner can absolutely ensure that everything will go smoothly on your special day.

Here at Cherished Moments Event Planning, we know that planning a special event can be very stressful, so why do it alone? We invite you to be a guest at your own event. We take care of every detail—from the early stages of planning to the moment the very last guest leaves! Let us put our expertise to work for you!

First Steps in Wedding and Event Planning

First, create an idea portfolio. Get a cute scrapbook or even a simple notebook and start compiling ideas by cutting out pictures from magazines or printing them from online. Magazines are a great way to get inspiration! My favorite mags are Martha Stewart Weddings and Wedding Flowers. After a couple pages in your portfolio, you’ll start to see a pattern develop of colors and themes that are your favorites!

Secondly, start on your preliminary guest list and estimated guest count. The number of guests will shape everything from the budget to the location. It seems like an obvious point, but remember, the more guests, the more your budget will need to increase. An increased guest count increases the costs for invitations, flowers, food, drink, size of location, etc.

Next, decide the formality of your wedding or event. Would you prefer an evening affair or morning brunch? An afternoon tea or entire weekend event? Think about these questions when deciding your event style. Then comes the decision on the general location and time of year. Are you looking for a “Falling in Love” fall theme or a “Winter Wonderland” theme? What about a destination wedding at some exotic location?

Also, start thinking of registries. One great new idea is the Honeymoon Registry, where you can actually register for portions of your dream honeymoon trip! Click here for more info: Honeymoon Registry

Finally, hire a wedding/event planner. Planning a wedding can be stressful, time-consuming and expensive! So to make sure your wedding or event is as successful as your hopes and dreams, hire a professional to plan and execute your plans to ensure success and eliminate stress!
